Now you can add an additional house on your property. If you are looking to make housing affordable again for your loved ones, whether it be in-laws, family members, yourself, or your children, or you may want to have the additional home for yourself so you can pass down your existing home to loved ones. Now, the State of New Hampshire is allowing in-law apartments, also known as ADU’s (accessory dwelling units), which now can be a free standing alone detached fully furnished home for full living allowing up to 900 sq ft. These are allowed on your existing property and have no special requirements. All you need is just enough room for the footprint of this fully built home, all that is needed is to meet some minimal requirements, in most cases just requiring a building permit. They also allow separate driveway, water service, power and septic if needed to access these homes.
